An Island is an immersive short film portraying the physical and emotional journey undertaken by a lone explorer as he attempts to reach the summit of a remote island.

As events unfold around him, our protagonist is confronted with the joy and agony of life, love, and loss, and the wonder of the natural world.

The film is directed by Roy Byrne and we couldn’t find that much about him. But we have some info about the company he works for, Maps And Plans. It’s an animation studio based in Dublin, Ireland.

Consisting of a small team of like-minded artists, the studio was set up in 2010 to produce artistically driven and personal projects focusing on film animation, aimed predominantly at older audiences. The studio has produced a number of short film projects to date and has received a myriad of highly acclaimed international awards and accolades from around the world.
