Director Biography – Alexandra Ramires (Xá)

Alexandra Ramires (Xá) – Born in 1987, in 2010 receives the Santander Totta scholarship of merit that allowed to complete the final semester of the painting course in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, graduating from the faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon. Xá has been developing her work in the drawing field and on its connections to the animated cinema and the printmaking process She started to work in animation in 2009 at Sardinha em Lata studios in the animation shorts Journey to Cape Verde directed by José Miguel Ribeiro; The Shoemaker by David Doutel and Vasco Sá and Independent Mind by Marta Monteiro. Since 2013, has been working at Bando à Parte studios where she collaborated in the films Soot by David Doutel and Vasco Sá and End of Line by Paulo D’Alva. Drop by drop is her first short animated film co-directed together with Laura Gonçalves.

LAURA GONÇALVES – Graduated from Animation course in Fine Arts Faculty, Lisbon in 2009, works for Sardinha Em Lata Studio as animator and final artist at “Journey to Cape Verde”, directed by Jose? Miguel Ribeiro; “The Shoemaker” by David Doutel and Vasco Sa? and “Independent Mind”/ by Marta Monteiro. Also worked at “Who’s this Hat” by Joana Toste, Gomtch Gomtch; and “M” by Joana Bartolomeu, Bando a? Parte. In 2012 completes the MA Degree in Animation at Arts University College of Bournemouth, where she directs her first animation short “Three Weeks in December”.
