Magic Play, a 2D fantasy comedy adventure that was mainly animated by director Natasha Canepa, centers around Wizard Boy, a studious yet shy kid who locks himself up in his room to study up on his magic. One day this boy is forced on a play date with his strange neighbor Witch Girl who decides to go crazy with her magic to make their time fun.
This film will be shown during this Saturday’s Free Family Film event that will occur in the yard behind Siblings’ Rivalry Brewery, which is located on 234 W King St in Strasburg.
With this location change, you can now bring a blanket, if you so wish. We will be starting at dusk, tentatively around 7 PM.
Natasha Cánepa has been a native to Puerto Rico for twenty-one years and a Savannah local for four years. With an intense passion for drawing and a heart for telling stories, she pursued her education at Savannah College of Art and Design with her goal in earning a B.F.A in Animation in June 2018.
Within the curriculum, she is specialized in Character Animation with a focus on personalized acting and timing to make the scenes enjoyable to watch. Besides contributing to shorts with these skills, she has taken up other roles for collaborative projects like storyboarding artist (Greyville), visual development artist (Success), and compositor/animation supervisor (Circle).
During her time at SCAD, she has created self-made shorts that were officially selected in festivals: the animated music video for Boom Boom Satellites’ Lay Your Hands on Me has been shown at the BALD Shorts Film Festival while Ready to Fight has been recognized in six different ceremonies including Detroit International Festival of Animation, Directed by Women and We Like Em’ Short Film Festival.
You can set up a Google or ICAL reminder from our event page so that you’ll be reminded the day of the event.
