The Strasburg Film Festival feature Hakkunde tells the story of Akande, a long-time unemployed graduate. Faced with life’s mounting pressures. Akande decides to relocate to Kaduna from Lagos, even though it’s against his sister’s wishes. The opportunity falls short of his expectations however, and Akande must decide to either learn to survive in a faraway land or return back to Lagos a failure.

Hakkunde will be shown on Friday, November the 9th at 8:30 PM at the Box Office Brewery. Tickets can be found on the film’s event page.

 

 

Director Biography – Asurf Oluseyi

Award-winning filmmaker Asurf Oluseyi first learned his trade by watching YouTube videos and practicing with old training manuals. He was featured on Google African Connected Campaign, a program that is aired across Africa and CNN, and serves as an inspiration for young Africans using the internet to learn new skills and build careers for themselves.

Having successfully built one of the largest independent film production houses in Nigeria, Asurf Films, Oluseyi has produced and directed hundreds of video products in the UK, USA and Nigeria.

Oluseyi was a nominee at the 2016 The Future Awards Africa for Best Screen Producer.

Oluseyi’s first feature film Hakkunde won a merit award at The IndieFEST Film Awards 2017 and was awarded the Best Nigerian Film 2017 at the African International Film Festival of 2017.
