Let’s play a game before we get to know Holly. Here are 3 facts Holly gave about herself; 2 are true, 1 is false.
- She once served John Mellencamp a cheeseburger.
- She has performed in both Disney World and on Broadway.
- She once threw up on the steps of the Roman Colosseum.
Can you guess which one is the lie by the end of the blog? Play along!
“Hi! I’m Holly Barnhart, and I am a Marketing Writer intern; I started in the summer as a marketing analyst intern. I focus primarily in forming our monthly newsletter, writing and editing promotional social media postings and product descriptions, and working with other department members on creating our new podcast.
I am a native of Bloomington, IN, though I soon plan to move to Chicago, IL. I have two cats, Sasha and Sushi, who are the loves of my life. I graduated in May 2019 from Ball State University with a BA in Telecommunications and a concentration on Film and Media Studies.
My passions are constantly changing, but the arts have always been my true loves. I grew up doing musical theatre and still love it with a burning passion – I was even in a competitive singing group in college. I’ve always loved watching movies, writing scripts, and analyzing film. And currently I’m really into video game storytelling and the progression of that artistic medium. On a deeper level, I love good writing and characters, interesting stories, and music that makes me want to belt out singing.
When I first applied for this internship, I was a year removed from school and looking to get involved in more film-related avenues. I initially applied to be a Film Analyst intern, since film analysis was my major as an undergrad. But the team convinced me that I would be a good fit for the marketing team; it’s been nice to learn more skills that could apply to future full-time employment one day!
One of my favorite projects to work on so far has been the Sunday Streaming posts, both the social media postings and the movie reviews. I’m also looking forward to getting more involved in the podcast moving forward.
Working with the team at the SFC has been a great experience so far. I have always supported the idea of growing local artists and inspiring communities and young people to pursue the arts for a career or a side passion. Art classes – choir, theatre, videography, photography – were a huge part of my upbringing and made me a better person because of it, so I love that SFC works to provide opportunities, however they can, to fostering that kind of love for the arts. By providing film screenings, showcasing local & independent film, and donating funds to local arts programs, I think the SFC has the ability to be that inspiration to the Shenandoah Valley.”
So, which do think was the lie? The correct answer is… #3! She never threw up in front of the Roman Colosseum (though a good friend of hers did!).
We love Holly and are glad she is on the team! Look forward to seeing more team introductions soon!
