Today we are highlighting a film of one woman’s journey with dance called Pacarrete. It will be played during our Saturday, November 16th 10am screening at Strasburg Town Hall

Synopsis

Pacarrete is an old and crazy ballet dancer. Over the years, she works as the teacher for classic dance and ballet in Fortaleza with ambition. After retirement, she goes back to hometown. However, still undaunted, she decides to give a dance performance, as a gift “to the people”, on the eve of the city’s 200-year anniversary party. But it seems nobody cares.

This thrilling drama stars Marcelia Cartaxo, Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival for the classic “The Hour of the Star” by Suzana Amaral. With João Miguel, Zezita Matos and Soia Lira in the cast.

Director Biography – Allan Deberton

Producer, director and screenwriter, graduated in Cinema at the Fluminense Federal University (Brazil). Directed the awarded short films “Coconut Sweet”(CE, 2010), “The Best Friend”(2013), “Arthur’s Eyes”(2016). Altogether the aforementioned films took part in more than 100 international and national film festivals and received 49 awards. Produced the movies “The Other Side of the Atlantic”; “Eternal Comeback”; the TV series “Lana & Carol” and produced “The Hour of the Star – The Musical”.
